Is there a cure?

You know I have an old browser, IE 5.1.6, for the most part the menus are working just fine. But on the first call the bgcolor usually extends the page, this happens on the milonic site and my own too. Refresh doesn't clear it, only placing the mouse in the url and pressing return, the page adjusts itself and comes up normal.

I can take a guess if this is a slow connection, memory/speed where there is no fix. Or is there?

Thank you
maz

Dear Pier 39...

Guess the first question is - why so old? Update the puppy :!:

This morning you were talking Mac. Is that your prime system (I'll like you more if it is)? OS X? If so, 5.2.3 is current. Even better would be Safari at 1.0(v85). Still a few minor problems, but better than IE.

If Win, roughly 6.0.2800... is current there.

Com'on - you've been around here long enough. Get with the program :!:

I run a tight ship, will do anything with a Mac. I pay out but nothing comes in, in need of a grant, so my computer is a donation, I end up with the low end that everyone throws out, were talking scuzzi here OS 8.6, can only dream of a G5. :P

Look at the good side, if I can get the menu to work, anyone can :D

Ouch, and I thought I was bad off :!: Sorry 'bout that...

Let me know if you find some place dishin' out grants. I could use some help, too. Lessee here - there's the dual 3GHz G5 that Stevie boy has promised, and of course the only way to get it home is in a new '04 Durango I've got my eye on, and...

Oh, well... :(

Can't you upgrade your OS to 9.2.2 for free from the Mac website?

You think her machine could handle it? Sounds like it would be as fast as molasses in winter. I am considering purchasing an iBook as my next major computer purchase. I just love the feel of apple, its just nice. I got a p4 xp box at home so it should last me a while, so in the meantime I think I will get myself a mac.

John, hows the truck? Do you now need an 04 durango, or is it more of a "that'd be nice" type of vehicle?

I tried putting spaces between the equals, does that make a difference slowing down things down just a tad? I thought it was helping.

Public transport here :(

HIGHLY doubt it would make any significant difference. Dont worry.

Dave, the past 6 weeks or so the truck has been playin' catch-up on what has not gone wrong over the last 5 1/2 years. Almost all of it has been typical wear-and-tear stuff (coolant bypass hose, brakes, battery, etc. - the transmission, however, was another story!), but it just all hit at once.

As for the '04 Durango, the kid wants a new toy (along with the aforementioned computers!). 'Afford' is another story entirely...

I think maz' computer could handle 9.2.2. I'm running it now (ready for this?) on an old 1400c PowerBook with a G3 upgrade card! No problems. OS X is on my G4 dualie.

I'll have to think it through, might be messy, back up drive is small.

I could use a second computer to update from, I'll keep searching for a computer donation and check the requirements on OS 9. I got burned on ebay and don't have as much Ram as I was supposed to and larger h/d needs a kick, wasn't worth the trouble.

My friend says I should keep this powerpc 4400/200 as an antique 8O

Thanks for the suggestions I'll look into it,
maz

Note: 4400 is not recommended to update to OS 9

I just want to update on putting spaces between the equal signs in the style sections, my horizontal menu is much more stable now, I don't get the bgcolor covering the page.

My vertical tools menu is another story due to the followscroll browser bug that freezes my links and send submenus to the opposite side of the browser.
