For the most part (besides safari on a mac) the nav work great! however we encountered a problem with ad blocking software! when AdSubtract or any other program like that is active the nav disapears - any suggestions for getting around this? It seems to work fine on other websites...what am i doing wrong?

Hi,

I'll refer you to this post. It resulted from a thread that was on the mailing list (separate from the forums). The phenomenon depends on how the popup blocker software works. Some of the more aggressive ones will actually remove "objectionable" (in their opinion) chunks of script from the page as it loads. Unfortunately, this will affect some dhtml elements, like popup menus. As far as I know, there isn't much to be done about it until the vendors of such software refine what they determine is objectionable.

Kevin

thanks!

thanks for the info - i'm bummed that there is no real fix for this - it's strange that the milonic tool bar works with AdSubtract (which is the ad blocker program that i am runnin) and it doesn't with our site. it's just frustrating that's all.

The one I use, Pop-Up Stopper (Basic) also doesn't cause a problem.

I agree... it's very frustrating. From what I can figure out (which isn't always a lot), the solution must ultimately lie with the manufacturers of the blocking software. By stripping out code, they obviously affect the web designer's intent: whether it's popup ads or useful popup elements, like tooltips or menus. They need to come up with a means of distinguishing the good from the bad.

BTW: I know that this same problem occurs with other (inferrior ;-) menu systems, like HierMenus.
