IFRAMEs or anything close?

hi y'all, this is my 1st post..

i'm looking to implement 2 menus (1 horizontal + 1 vertical), each having submenus, where the main page area that's left needs to changed according to menu clicks.

simple? i thought so too... :?

please people, i see it's easy to control the main area location.href, but how can i make the submenus visible? i understand the latest version doesn't yet support frames, and neither IFRAMEs.

any suggestions???

The latest version supports IFRAMES, I've been using it for about two months without a problem. I only have the one horizontal menu though.

Good news, i think.. :-?

hi fred,

well, this is extremely good news.. thanks!! :D

i tried it in many ways during the whole(!) night, and couldn't get my IE5.00 (on Win2K Pro) to make it work. the submenus keep staying behind the <IFRAME> layer.

i've also read Kevin's workaround where by adding <DIV>s and playing around with it - it's possible to hide the whole IFRAME therefore revealing the submenus, but this is not what i was looking for.

could you please post a URL where i can see the menu in action on top of an IFRAME?

cheers, r.

My website is at http://www.flhs.org.uk

When I re-wrote my site for V5 and Iframes I had a few problems, which were expertly overcome by Hergio. You can see the thread here:

hi fred,

hate to be a party-pooper, but thought you might like to know i'm getting a javascript error on page: http://www.flhs.wigan.sch.uk/main/body.htm

error =
Code:
object doesn't support this property or method

debugger stopped on line #24 of body.htm =
Code:
location.href("body1024.htm")

i'll try to play around with it, and also try out a higher version browser (IE5.5/6 should do the trick).

really appreciate your help, 10x
ronnie ;)

It may be a fault with the code that detects your screen resolution. Tried it with IE6 on 800x600 and 1024x768 only.

tried it out on IE6 + Win2KPro - it works just fine!
a pretty impressive site, well done! :)

p.s. - take a look at the rightmost menu (i don't remember its name), viewing it causes a problem where the menu stops working altogether.
