How to respond back to a forum users reply to me?

I am new to this forum. Sometimes when I receive a reply to a message I have posted, I would like to reply back to just that one individual instead of posting to all the people who may have answered my message.

Is there any way to do this?

Trying to do this right, sorry for the dumb question.

You can send that person an email by clicking on the button at the bottom of the message window. However, except in rare cases, that's not really doing it 'right'. The purpose of the Forum is for all to share in the problems and the solutions. If you take something to email it can then no longer be shared. If you start something here 'in the open', I feel it should remain here.
