Menu on the mac -- missing dropdown.

Hi,

I love my menu on a PC, but I'm having problems with the menu on a MAC. On Mac IE 5.1 and Safari, we lose the dropdown and if you roll over the primary navigation without moving your mouse out of the bar, all menu items stay in the "on" state.

Thanks for your input on this.

Hi Erika,

I'm not able to test on a Mac, but the first thing I'd suggest is that you try an update. I notice that you are currently using RC17. The current release is RC39, so there have been quite a few changes and bug fixes since RC17. You should be able to get an update here. Download the update, decompress the file you downloaded to its own folder, then upload milonic_src.js, mmenudom.js, and mmenuns4.js to your site's menu folder. If that doesn't fix it for you, I guess we'll see you back in this thread.

Hope that helps,

Kevin

thanks for you help. I downloaded the latest version. I'll check the menu on a mac when I get to work in the morning.

Thanks for the tip!

You didn't mention the OS you're running, but since you said Safari I'll assume OS X. IE5.1 is also down-level - 5.2.3 was the last version released, and, as you probably know, there will be no more IE on the Mac. M$ has dropped development. Also, make sure your Safari is current.

Okay...

Now working on Safari, and still not working on IE for the Mac. I have another site using the menu and it seems to be working, so I'm going to print the source of each and compare the difference.

wrote the menu nav, all fine when tested on PC and Mac, (from a local filespace) but whole menu ios not appearing when trying to view (on a mac (IE5.5) from a CD.

Please, any suggestions welcomed.

Could it be an old version problem?

I am unaware of an IE5.5 on the Mac. I thought 5.1 was last on OS 9, and 5.2.3 was it for OS X (and that's where M$ stopped development).

Most likely you have a pathing problem - not exactly the same on the local drive as on the CD.

Could be anything, but you have given us nothing in the way of info to go on (OS and version, menu version, etc.).

Been in such a flurry to get this done.

OsX, IE 5.2.2, Menu version 3.5.02

the path to the scipts from the dir with the HTML pages in is ../scripts/menu_array.js

Now we have a problem. You've posted to the wrong area (minor), and I can't move just this message.

However, the biggie is that v3 of the menu is no longer supported or developed. The version you are running is 25+ levels down from the last v3 that was released (3.5.15). Current is v5, now at RC43, which means there have been well over 75 versions/updates/fixes released since the one you're using!

Therefore, the first thing you need to do is upgrade to v5. If you publish with that old version of v3 there are most likely a lot of systems it won't work on.
