In versioninfo 5.32 the treemenu is due for release soon ....
Can someone give me a hint when it will be released!!

I have an immediate need for this as well. Talked to Andy yesterday and he is working on it 'as we type'. It has been moved up the list, if not even to the very top.

OK, how's this for service...

You can try a beta version of this as follows...

Demo

Files needed...
http://www.milonic.com/treemenu/treemenu.js
http://www.milonic.com/treemenu/collapse_data.js

Note I said beta! There is no support for this right now, and we are not in a position to answer questions about it. Check the demo page source for the proper setup for the JS calls and syntax.

Note also that as of this writing the current menu system is at 5.35, and it is recommended you upgrade to that version, if not already there.

Feedback, however, would be most appreciated. :D

Hi There,

I don't have a need for Treemenu right away, but will no doubt in the future. I haven't really followed discussions up to this point, so things may have been discussed already. Here's a few items I can think of off the top of my head...

- a command/option to expand all sub menus

- a command/option to collapse all open sub menus

- a command/option to collapse any open sub menus when the user expands another one

- the ability to save state of menus when opening a new page, even if it has to use cookies or ASP/PHP session vars to keep track of things. Normally collapsable menus have to be used in a frame, which most folks would want to avoid.

Item #3 is already in there, although I'm having some trouble getting it to work right (but we're still beta with this). I'm sure Andy will take the others into consideration.

You can see the demo listed above, or one I've started working on at http://www.west.asu.edu/sa/testsite/tree.htm. Only the first 3 or 4 items are complete on mine, so if you go too far down you'll get an error (the sub-menus are not in place).

Mine is pretty plain-jane - there is a lot more that can be done with this module.

Wanted to give the beta a try but unless I'm doing something really stupid it doesn't seem to want to work using 5.36 ?

Poster: jm
Dated: Thursday July 29 2004 - 17:46:32 BST

ok - found a 5.35 milonic_src.js file and it worked fine

Not sure why it causes the problem - but there's another bug to sort !

needs a command/option to collapse any open sub menus when the user expands another one
Any idea when it will be launched ?

hi john

any update yet ? Going to sit down and start this new site tonight and thought I'd hold out if there was an update on the horizon :)

Cheers

Hi -

Haven't heard anything yet. I was out sick most of last week, but don't think I missed anything.

Have you folks posted all the problems you've encountered in this Topic so the boss doesn't have to search all over the place?

Thanks.

Running it against 5.36 at http://www.west.asu.edu/sa/testsite/new/ with no problems (other than what we've talked about). Just a dummy site for now, but the menu works.

From your comment I ass-ume yours does nothing at all?

For the record - I'm currently catching up on all the emails from last week - Took some time off to demolish... Erm, I mean't fix the house.

I'm almost at the point where I can start on the treemenu again so may have something this week.

I think I have enough to go on for now, thanks for that guys, be in touch soon.

One thought - is that my 5.36 is a licenced version for a single site - however i'm only testing it offline - so I'm not sure if that's an issue ?

Thanks, boss. Looks like we have a line-up waiting for this.

Playing catch-up myself - sick all last week.

got a demo running at http://www.cruisesport.com/about/

Figured I'll start on the site structure anyway - though hit a very odd problem.

If u visit the page - click on the nav button and the image disappears !
What's more peculiar is that it works fine offline !

I guess this is something to do with licensing of mmenudom.js and mmenuns4.js ?

If so can you let me know what's option I should buy ?

Cheers

Is this to do with using a licensed mmenudom.js and mmenuns4.js ?

I can't answer that. Not sure how the two scripts interact as far as the licensing is concerned (or if they even do as yet). Andy will have to take this one.

hi

just tried it out on our licensed site and it has the same problem - so it's nothing to do with licensed versions or not.

It's something to do with being online or offline !

Guess I'm not fully understanding the problem. Click on any main menu link (by the red square) and what image goes away? The red square?

Hi john

It's something to do with using an image as the nav hyperlink
If you take a look at http://www.cruisesport.com/about/index.htm
The about nav image isn't hyperlinked - so it works correctly - sub menu is displayed correctly (contacts in the submenu is hyperlinked to the iframe - and that works fine)

If you then click on the News navbutton (which is hyperlinked) - the news nav button disappears ?

I did find that I had to leave in the text= so I stuck in a "." - but without that the script fails to produce the menu ?

So perhaps I've missed removing another line of script somewhere ?

aI("image=../images/menu/about.gif;text=.;showmenu=About;type=tree;url=#");
aI("image=../images/menu/news.gif;text=eee;showmenu=News;type=tree;url=javascript:openIFrame('datamain','../news/main.htm');");

here's the link for the full collapse_data.js file http://www.cruisesport.com/menu/collaps ... se_data.js

does that make sense ?

(I've had to ditch the beta - need to get this new site up and running - so the online example is going offline).

Still like to understand why this is happening ?

I may have missed this but did not see this in reading this thread.

Are the collapsible and treemenu just additional styles of the core Milonic Menu or separate licensed products?

They are both looking great Andy. Can you give us some idea of what you have left that needs to be completed (not asking timeframe) before you would recommend it to be used on a productions site.

Poster: Andy
Dated: Wednesday August 4 2004 - 9:50:13 BST

Licensing has not been decided yet. It's more likely to be a separate product with another license number though.

Although it takes it's core from the menu, the menu code was originally devloped to provide this kind of thing. Once we have a finished product (should be within a week or 3) I should have a better idea of how things will pan out.

Already discussed. I "neglected" to update that file (but a certain person did not specifically say that file had been updated, either :!:  ).

Anyway, working fine now, including singleMasterMenu.

Blame it on too many shots at the dentist...

Not that I've heard, but the latest combo is running here with no errors (treemenu 0.3 and 5.40).

Just wanted to ask when the collaps and tree menu will be done (out of beta)?

Andy said 1-3 weeks thats 6 months ago ?!?!?!

The tree menu is currently at v1.12 and running very nicely. Note that you will need your regular menu code up to at least v5.62 for this tree version.

Poster: Smyken

ok its working but there are several things that are not working like they should and thats:

1.
when you click on a main menu that dont have a child then this menu stays colored all the time (untill you click on it again).

2.
when you are in a child menu and directly click on a Main menu without a child that menu isn't activated untill you click on it again.
(to make it work you need to turn of (Singlemastermenu) but then the user can open all the menus at same time.

Is this something you team members are currently working on ?

Also while Im at it :

Is there any example on how to use the treemenu that is populated with PHP from MYSQL ?

My company is currently developing a new webshop system that will be sold in Europe and we are looking for a Collapsable menu that can be populated with PHP/MYSQL and the Milonic one is really promising but with the bugs and no easy way to implement it together with PHP/MYSQL leavs us still looking for other menu options. :(

Poster: John
Dated: Tuesday December 7 2004 - 14:33:02 GMT

Got a URL we can look at?

Poster: Smyken
Dated: Tuesday December 7 2004 - 15:02:59 GMT

You can see the webshop at http://webshop.componics.com

but the design will be dramatically changed to fit more computershopping look and we need a good collapsable menu to go at the left of the screen and that is populated by with PHP by MYSQL.
Milonic is really the only one that qualify to do the job so far after looking fo a menu for over a week so I really hope something could be worked out !

I guess that was the link you wanted ? or was it the link for the treemenu of yours that you can find at your own site at:

http://www.milonic.com/treemenu/collapse/

once again I really hope that something could be worked out.

Poster: Smyken

John I dont think you understand me!

There are no errors it's just that the behavior of the collapsible menu is wrong.

just look at your own menu at the link I gave you and click on any menu without a child menu and you will se that that menu stays lit nomatter what you do untill you click on it again !

Smyken wrote:

It's doing that because there is no page linked to it. If you create a page [and put the menu on it also] to which that link goes when clicked, then the page loads with the menu in it's original state, no colors.

Smyken wrote:

I see that, we'll report it. It seems to be activating whatever function closes the menu and then not continuing with the link function of taking you to the page.

Smyken wrote:

Yes, this is something that Milonic are developing. I don't know about Team Members working on it. This one isn't since she knows nothing about programming or coding :?
