Multiple users require different access to menu items

I need to handle multiple users to whom I want to permit access to different menu items. In general, has Milonic provided a solution for this? If not, can you suggest a way to best handle this?

I am using if userISmember, else, on the menu items, I think most of it is handled in the php. I can't really help because I don't do the backend.
