bad link - javascript - help!!!

I'm trying to open a link on a website called Big Charts. The actual page is located at http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/intcha ... ime=&freq=

There is a link labeled "Store Chart Settings". When I click on it, I get nothing. If I right click it and open in a new window, I get "this page cannot be found". I went to the big charts site and they said to make sure my javascript is enabled. I thought I fixed that problem by going to tools (I use IE 6), Internet Options, Security, Custom Level and then enabling "Active Scripting". Even after this, the link still doesn't work. I even lowered my Privacy settings. I even added this site to my "Trusted Sites". Still nothing. I know the link works because it works on my work computer. Seeing as how my boss won't look too kindly on me trading at work, I need my home computer to be able to open this link. I have Norton Internet Security. Could that have anything to do with it? I'm extremely frustrated as I've never encountered this problem on any other website. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks for your time.

I can go to the link you provided. I get a frameset with the right body window showing a message "Please enter a symbol before requesting your chart. Please try again..."

Try removing symb=&time=&freq= from the link and see what happens.

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for your reply. I tried taking the "symb=&time=&freq=" off the end of the link but no luck. I have noticed two things since my post yesterday.

First, when I right click on ""Store Chart Settings" at
http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/intcha ... ime=&freq= , and open in a new window, it says, "javascript:%20setting('store')" in the address window.

Second, I tried opening a music website last night that uses javascript without success.

It seems I can't open javascript even though I've enabled it in Internet Explorer. Any other ideas on what is going on here?

Thanks,

Matt

Matt -

Where does the Milonic menu system get involved in this problem?

Hi John,

It really doesn't. I'm at my wits end trying to solve this problem. I searched google for anything related to javascript and found several forums - one of them yours. I'm just hoping that someone out there knows the answer. I, of course, tried microsoft first, but they don't seem to have much interest in helping. If I've made a mistake in trying to find help here, just let me know and I apologize in advance.

Thanks,

Matt

Matt,
Do you have sp2 with that IE6? I remember hearing and seeing a lot about not being able to get things or see things when people upgraded to that service pack 2. I'm out of my depth here but I think there is some setting that is not in the usual browser security settings, something to do with javascript I think, or maybe it was directX. Since I don't have IE6, I never went in depth on it. And, that may not be it, but I thouht I'd mention it.
