menus, search engines

This isn't strictly a milonic menu issue, but maybe someone out there has figured a good way to deal with this.

I have my own search engine that compiles a search database from my site. Some of my menu items are merely links to pages on other sites. But I liked that the search engine followed those links and those pages would also show up in a search of my site.

Now that all those items are no longer links within html code on a page, they're no longer showing up in searches. Yeah, I suppose I could just create a normally non-accessible page that has all those links, but that's extra work and not too elegant.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi,

You could try using the listbased menu. It is 'configurable' just like the regular menu, and you can 'hide' the list so that it doesn't show on the page. Your search engine should then read those links since they are just list links ul li etc.

In your downloaded menu files you should see extras\listbased in some items. That is the 'sample' for you to use and change to make it as you want the menu to be.

Also, sometime in the future [not to far, I believe] there will be a demo for 'generating' a list from the menu. I have actually used that to make a 'sitemap' and to use it for link tests. It's still under development.
