Hi Kevin,

I'd be glad to help, but first you have to tell me what you're doing.

You have a div set up called noprint which is set at width16px and height 27 px. You have the call for all the files in that div, but the height of the menu items is 33px not 27 and the menu is sure wider than 16px. Also, you don't have it set as position relative, you have top and left. So, what exactly do you want to do? Put it where you have the 'picture' of what looks like a menu?

Ruth

Thanks for your help

I'm fairly new at dealing with div tags. so any advice would be great. any links you can point me to to get more info about dealing with div tags?

Also with "relative" and "absolute" position, is that why the menu drops down far off when using Safari?

Also how can I keep the menu items all in 1 line?
example:
youth
site

Should be : youth site

and so on... I tried changing everything I could to fix that...

one more question

also can I use relative positioning if I have the entire page justify center? Won't that screw up the placement? Should I insert the menu in a table if thats the case?

Hi,

You didn't answer the one question I needed, how you're doing the layout. Anyway, here is a zip file with the menu setup and the top part of the page, as I figured you wanted it to look. I have no idea if this is what you want as your top layout, but it looked like it was. This file also contains a different text-over image. The reason is, if anyone changes fontsize on their browser that image would repeat, so I set it up so it will only repeat horizontally and not vertically and so it is positioned at the bottom left of the item. That can only be done by setting up the bg images in a css class and calling it in the menu. You will see how it was done, since the css is in the top part of the page, and in the data file it shows how it was called.

Since you didn't actually give a page with a layout I just had to guess, and I didn't do anything with the bottom.

LINK REMOVED

Let me know when you get this so I can remove the link

Oops. If you already got the file before I posted this, you need to download again. I forgot to actually put the page in it

Ill try doing what you suggested. What I want is the following:
1. The background image was just a temp so I can figure out how to place the menu. I'll put in the real page once I get things to work the right way. The menu would be placed right where the menu on the background image would be.

As for the files you sent me, its just directions how to set the tables. did you put the roll over gif anywhere? Just curious because I see that you put the revised roll over image in the zip. Was it for me to include in the css file?

Hi,

You should be able to upload that page I put in the file, and all the files in it plus your program files. I gave you the page, a menu_data_test.js file, the images that are on the page and the css is also on the page instead of a file. All the images I used are in that data file. And, yes, I revised the rollover image.

1. When you put the image as a background it will automatically repeat since it follows css guidelines and there is no way to set the position of the background image nor to set it to not repeat in the data file.

2. So, I made a new image which is wider than your original and I set the images using css classes. This allows you to position the bgimage which you cannot do in the menu. With the wider image, and setting the class so that bgimage is positioned at bottom left, and set to only repeat on the x axis or horizontal the overbgimage will always have the orange line under the text, no matter what size the user has the browser set to use.

3. I used the css classes and the menu's ability to use them for the off and on settings for any property that is a css property [this means things like separators, header colors, page colors and such can't be set in css since they are not css properties, but properties designed specific to the menu] All those properties I set in the menu style for the main menu and I left the submenu style as it is.

If you open the zip and upload all the files and the page and then upload your program files then look at the page you will see how the menu is set up, you will see it on the page and working as it looks as if you want it.

Ruth

thanks

Thanks for all your help. Now that I have it perfect, I just bought the license now I need to get rid of the Milonic tag but CAN NOT redo everything I just did. It took me many days to get things perfect. What can I do? I NEED to handle this to the client for their review tomorrow morning (California time) and can not have the Milonic icon.

HELP! Need my purchase #?

Hi,

OK, if you purchased the menu, then you had to register at the main site to do that. Now, you need to log in on the main site and download the menu again. When you download it, you should get one with the correct license in it then you just upload the program files, NOT the menu_data.js file. Just leave the one you have. Once the licensed version is uploaded the Milonic will become whatever your first link in the file is :)

This is to prevent so many people from 'stealing' the menu without buying a license or from using a free one if they are entitled without getting it licensed. This is the only way Milonic has to protect its property.

When you log in and click the download button you should get a page that gives you

Code:
The Current Menu Version is Version 5.774

The Domain name that this download has been created for is: domain you registered, license number 'your number'

If you have a problem still, if for some reason the license didn't get registered yet, put a link on the page like the following

Code:
<a href="http://www.milonic.com">DHTML Menu by Milonic.com</a>

That will remove the Milonic from the menu. Your licensed version should be available right away, but just in case...

PS. Did you decide not to use the underline for the over bg image? Just a personal thing, I liked the underline, it was pretty.
