How to apply menu to header graphic

I know this can be done using Heirmenu software but wondering about Milonic. Need to place top level menu text over image and have sub-menus show below. I'm just not sure if the top level of Milonic menu can somehow be transparent so as to only show the text over the header image.

See example header image at
http://nnylive.com/test_header.html and you'll understand where the menu will go.

This is a pre-purchase requirement before I purchase pro version.
(EDIT) Another note, the graphic you view is just one of 7 that are displayed using slideshow js. In other words, the toplevel menus would need to be positioned to show in exactly the same place on all pages. Not that it matters, but site is php, not html.
I'm updating the html example page to include the slideshow.js

Thanks
Don Barrett

I suspect Ruth will probably come up with an exact answer to your question.

Meanwhile, here is a site that uses complete graphics for the header with drop-downs from there. Perhaps this will give you another path to pursue.

Hi

I see you have put the menu in. Is that what you wanted? You could also use an image map, though I've never tried it with a slideshow, but if the graphic has those 'buttons' at the bottom then I would thing you could set it up as an image map, like any of the following

Thanks for the input folks. Ruth, I played with this a bit last night after I figured that it would do what I need. I've got the positioning down, now need to figure how to make just top menu transparent. Going to try creating a trans.gif w/photoshop and use this as the background image for main menu then do whatever else with the subs.
The 'buttons' are part of the header graphic and the plan is to position the main menu over them. Don't beleive image map would work as there are actually 7 header graphics and the header is in a table to boot :).

I'm pritty good at figuring this stuff out but sometimes I just don't want to re-invent the wheel :).

I bought a licence last night but confused a bit about the download. The page states to download whichever menu that I need and it will be tied to my #. The end menu that I will use will be a combo of multiple menus, ie. image, offset, tablebased, etc. What should I download? Could someone explain?

So far I love this software! Just use your imagination and you can come up with all sorts of kewl stuff.

Hi,

You sure can come up with a lot of cool stuff, that is one thing I loved about this which got me into experimenting with designs in the menu and helping here on the forum. I tried a lot of different menus but this is so easy and so designable I wouldn't try any other now.

As to the download, your purchase allows you to download any/all the menus and use however you want. Mix them, match them, redesign them, use two styles on one page etc. The license is for a domain, not for any particular menu, they are all yours :)

As to what you are trying to do, I hate to burst bubbles, but you will have a problem setting any menu up this way. The problem is to do with browsers, accessiblity and the users' font size settings. If you try to set it up as you have it, anyone who increases or decrease font size will cause the menu item text to not be right over and in the center of your images. The only way to control the size and prevent users from causing the menu items to get larger or smaller due to font sizing is to create an image based menu. If you want the menu to always be that 762 px which encompass those images you need to make each one of them an item in the menu with the text on the image for each item. I would be glad to set up a sample for you using your set up, but I'd prefer having the real text since there is an extra item. The other option, if you want the people to be able to size the font for accessibility issues, I can set up something for that also so the images are bg images and will get bigger as font size changes but still retain their look. That takes a bit more of a setup but it is very do-able. Just be aware that if you do that, use bgimages, the menu will get larger and go beyond either side of that table area if a user sets a larger font size. There is nothing you can do about that since you cannot force all browsers to fix the font size since all the standards, and I think maybe it is a legal requirement here in the US, that all browsers must meet accessibility needs. [not sure on the legal part, but definitely the standards require it] Sorry, for the long post but I know so many who have a great layout and then discover that it's not working because of that font sizing issue.

Let me know if you need any help :)
